Sevda Koraltan, PhD, PMP

CPM Partners’ founder and CEO has 20 years of experience in the U.S. and abroad in various facets of construction management. Although she did not know it at the time, the seed that has become CPM Partners was planted in 1984 when she first came to the United States on a Fulbright Scholarship to begin her academic career at the University of Kansas. Her studies that began in architectural engineering soon focused on construction management as she pursued advanced degrees. Her passion for construction management and her strong belief that success in any field requires continuous education and sharing that knowledge, lead to her serving as an academician for both graduate and undergraduate programs in construction management and publishing several academic papers on the subject. In her Doctoral Dissertation she explored Partnering and its applications. The partnering premise and the values required to successfully achieve excellence in project delivery would one day become the guiding principles of CPM Partners. Sevda is certified through the Project Management Institute (PMI) as a Project Management Professional (PMP).

In her working career Sevda has gained extensive experience with and knowledge of construction projects by having been involved at all levels of the delivery process. Having held positions from assistant estimator to program director, Sevda has gained the unique understanding of who and what is required to successfully meet project requirements. One of the lessons Sevda learned early on in her working career was that when her employer’s philosophy and values were closely aligned with hers, clients seemed to be more satisfied and projects went well. When corporate values were not well defined or aligned, clients were less satisfied and there were other issues. This reinforced her belief, going back to her academic “partnering” days, that a successful company must have a philosophy and values that best serves all project participants.

In 2007 recognizing a need in the market, Sevda formed CPM Partners, a construction project management services firm committed to excellence. The premise was simple, visionary companies succeed when guided by inexplicability simple but true core values that are acted upon. These core values provide a sense of purpose, they define the organization. CPM Partners was created to best serve the entire construction industry in a manner consistent with the vision and values of our founder.
